Assistive technologies are important because they help people with disabilities access information, communicate, and learn more independently than without them in their everyday lives. The tools make things like school, work, or daily activities more equitable, which would be extremely difficult or impossible to accomplish without assistive technologies. Assistive technologies are important because they allow disabled people to better participate in society and be more confident in going out to access things such as school, work, or daily activities. Though the ADA is an existing law, some businesses, such as libraries, can forget to include these assistive technologies, such as ramps, according to Christopher Johnston.
