Mobile technologies often allow people to access resources from their local library! People use apps like Libby and Hoopla to listen to audiobooks and read ebooks. These apps make library resources much more convenient and accessible for people who may not be able to visit a library in person regularly. This can also tie into assistive technologies because, a lot of the time, ebooks and audiobooks can be more accessible than regular paperback books you would normally check out at the library. Ebooks can include features such as adjustable font sizes, screen readers, text-to-speech options, and customizable background colors, which can help people with visual impairments, dyslexia, or other learning disabilities. Audiobooks can also support people who struggle with reading printed text by allowing them to listen instead. Because of these features, mobile technology helps create equal opportunities for more people to enjoy reading, learning, and accessing information through their local libraries.
