MPrzesmicki - Digital Storytelling

Storytelling has been around for a millennia- from cave drawings to oral history, mankind has passed on it's history through stories. The current age is no different, though the common medium is. Having phased into written storytelling in the later stages of humanity, humans are now implementing their stories into the new, digital age. Digital storytelling can take the form of presentations, videos, audio, pictures, or other similar items. It has allowed for easier expression and sharing of ideas, knowledge, and stories across a medium that is well-known by most.

Digital storytelling has become a valuable asset in some classrooms, as well, as lecture videos or presentations can be a positive supplement to students' curriculum. Research done Okan Sarigoz and Bilal Yildirim, for the International Journal of Eurasia Social Sciences in 2024, reaffirmed that digital storytelling can be a beneficial technology for classrooms, as they observed two groups of children. One group was taught strictly with written materials, while the second was enriched with digital storytelling. Their "research concluded that the digital materials [supported] the second-grade students' reading comprehension skills, and this contribution... is critically important for academic life and success." In our ever-evolving society, digital storytelling is a tool that one may consider a valuable asset.
